Honestly there's something really strange about this book that makes it really hard to read but I can't quite put my finger on it. The main character is really unlikable and strange, constantly complaining but for reasons I wasn't able to understand. Her motivations seemed non-existant and her relationship with her mate was hard to buy because for some reason he barely talked at all over the course of the book.
When I Started reading this book I was going to give it four or five stars but as I continued to read it, this Arthur use the word "smirk" and rolled my eyes or roll their eyes or rolled his or her eyes, my God how can you use one word more than four times on one page, and every other page thereafter?
I cannot stand redundancy and in saying that I quit reading this book at 30% so I really don't know how good it is or isn't , I cannot get past the redundancy!!!!!
***Spoilers*** l Iove shifter books so I thought this book would be worth reading, however, I found it kind of confusing around middle and basically skipped to the last chapter.
So this book begins with the female lead being attacked by wolves from another pack and their alpha turns out to be her mate. She is traded as part of an peace treaty agreement/alliance and goes home with her enemies. The alpha claims she's his mate, but she doesn't feel the connection, so a witch starts treating her and trying to "fix" her. (I was enjoying the book up until this point...but it got to confusing for me after this)
She starts having flash backs of unknown brainwashing her. Spells are done and her aunt was part of this cult or something...I'm not real sure. It was hard to follow and unbelievable as her parents/family seemed over protective of her and seemed to genuinely care about her.
So Skipped to the ending apparently her aunt and her cult blood bonded her with some magic using villain. The only way he would die was if she died. She ended up smack dap in the middle of a magical war between the witch that was treating her "mate-bond" issue and this cult her aunt was in. She magically ripping mate bond apart, so she could be killed without harming her mate. In the end she (and the villain) both died...then she was raised from the dead and came back for her mate and restored the bond.
It was a good read, but hard to follow. It seemed like the author couldn't decide who the adversary was...There were too many people at blame for how "broken" she was.There seemed to be too much going on.
I gave one star because of the cursing. I will not be reading anymore of her books. If your a person who likes to curse than this book is for you.
Found this on Wattpad, first 30 chapters of this book are free there. Did not know that the only way to get the ending was to fork over the cash for the last 3 chapters, they are not worth the price of this book. I like the book good plot, not bad characters or character development but do yourself a favor and read the free version and make up your own ending, it would be better than the one Nique came up with.
Hands down my favorite werewolf book of all times! If you want to read a book about a bad ass female-lead protagonist, then this should definitely be your pick. The plot is beyond amazing and Nique does a wonderful job at capturing every little detail. Amazing book and I would read it again in a heartbeat!
It started well... then went downhill. I did not enjoy the last half at all. . Generally I like the intrigue, but this time I did not.
